Condolence Book

 

                 A condolence book was opened in the Embassy of Pakistan from 17-19 December 2014 to mourn the loss of lives resulting from the cowardly terrorist attack on a school in Peshawar on 16th December and to express support and solidarity with the victims of this tragedy. The condolence book was signed by a large number of people including members of the Diplomatic Corps who visited the Embassy of Pakistan during this period.

Mr. Kim Jørgensen, State Secretary of Foreign Policy, Royal Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed the condolence book on behalf of his Ministry and the Government of the Kingdom of Denmark.

Vigils in Denmark in the memory of the victims of attack on school in Peshawar

                 A candlelight vigils was held at the Town Hall, Copenhagen on 19 December 2014 to express solidarity and support with the victims of the Peshawar school carnage. The vigil was attended by a very large number of people of Pakistani origin, Danes as well as people of other nationalities. The participants were carrying placards with slogans condemning the brazen attack on school. Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan's Ambassador to Denmark, Masroor A. Junejo thanked the organizers for holding the vigil. Condemning the barbaric act, he stated that the Pakistani nation was united in its fight against terrorism. He expressed the hope that with the support of the international community, it would be possible to eliminate scourge of extremism from Pakistan.

                 As a mark of respect to the victims of the tragedy a two minutes' silence was observed. Prayers were also offered for them and their families.

                 A similar vigil was also held in Odense, the third largest city of Denmark on 19th December. Vigil is also being organized in Aarhus - the second largest city of Denmark today.

The Students of Jinnah International School express sympathy with the victims of Peshawar School

 

The students of Jinnah International School visited the Embassy of Pakistan in Copenhagen to express their grief and sorrow with families of the victims of the barbaric attack on a school in Peshawar on 16 December 2014. They were accompanied by Mr. Ghulam Rasool, Chairman of the Board and Ms. Anette Spang Frandsen. The children left flowers and lit candles in the memory of the children who were martyred. Prayers were also offered for the victims of the tragedy .

Pakistan Missions to Observe Three-Day Mourning :-

In the wake of the horrendous terrorist attack in Peshawar, and the resultant loss of innocent lives, all Pakistan Missions abroad will observe a three-day mourning period. The national flag at the Embassies/High Commissions/Consulates would be flown at half-mast and all scheduled festive events shall be cancelled. Condolence books would be opened for signatures during the period by Pakistan Missions all over the world. To express their solidarity, officers of the Foreign Service of Pakistan are donating blood for the children wounded in the terrorist attack.

Embassy bids farewell to its member of staff

 

The Embassy of Pakistan, Copenhagen bid farewell to Mr. Muhammad Iqbal, Accountant who completed his tenure in the Embassy on 04 December 2014. Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador praised the outgoing Accountant for the hard work and devotion to duty that he had displayed during his stay in the Mission. He wished him and his family well.

The Ambassador also welcomed his successor Mr. Masud Hasan Khan and wished him well in his new assignment. Mr. Masud Hasan Khan has joined this Mission after serving at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad. He has previously served in Pakistan Missions at New Delhi, Tokyo, Yangon and Dar Es Salam.

Ambassador Junejo attends an evening at "Sufi Salon"

Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo spent an evening of art and Sufi music at "Sufi Salon" at Dirrch Passers, Frederiksberg in Copenhagen on 26 December 2014.

The evening featured a paintings exhibition by Dr. Rubya Mehdi and musical performance by Fuat T. Vanli, a singer of Turkish heritage and Marya Akhtar and Pervaiz Akhtar of Pakistani origin. Fuat Vanli rendered Turkish, Kurdish and Azerbaijani Sufi and folk songs. Marya Akthar and Pervaiz Akhtar delighted the audience with their rendition of poetry of famous Sufi saints like Shah Hussain, Baba Bulhey Shah, Khawaja Ghulam Fareed and others.

Ambassador Junejo attends Iqbal-Seminar, 2014

Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo attended Iqbal-Seminar, 2014 at the Islamic-Christian Study Centre in Copenhagen on 08 November 2014. The seminar was jointly organized by the Iqbal Academy Scandinavia (IAS) and the Islamic-Christian Study Centre (IKS). The topic of the seminar was Science and Theology.

Those who presented papers at the seminar included Ghulam Sabir, author of the book: Religion and Physics, Muhammad Sharif Baqa, Philippe Provencal, Research fellow, Natural History Museum of Denmark and Nicolai Halvorsen, University Chaplain, Nature and Health Science.

Ambassador Junejo attends Seminar on "Sufism in Pakistan" at the Copenhagen Business School.

Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo attended a seminar on "Sufism in Pakistan: A Humanities perspective" on 07 November 2014 at the Copenhagen Business School. The seminar was organized by the Department of Intercultural Communication and Management of the School. Those who addressed the seminar included Dr. Peter Lund-Thomsen and Ms. Uzma Rehman of the Copenhagen Business School, Prof. Dr. Juergen Wasim Fremgden, Curator at the Oriental Department at the Ethnology Museum in Munich, Germany and Dr. Mohammad Youssef Shaheen, who has been involved in the practice of Sufism in Pakistan. Dr. Shaheen manages a Sufi lodge in Pakistan where he teaches Sufi meditation, thought and practice.

In his remarks, Ambassador Junejo highlighted the role that the Sufi saints and poets played in the spread of Islam in South Asia through the message of love, humanity and tolerance. He informed the audience that the shrines of the Sufi saints welcomed everyone irrespective of their colour, caste or religion. He also referred to the rich heritage of Sufi music in Pakistan and paid tributes to the great masters of Sufi music such as Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Abida Parveen, Pathaney Khan and others.

Visit of Pakistan Renewable Energy Business Delegation to Denmark

An Energy delegation from Pakistan visited Denmark in the last week of September, 2014. The visit was organized by the Embassy of Denmark in Islamabad with the collaboration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark and Confederation of Danish Industry (DI). The delegation visited important Danish projects in different parts of Denmark as well as attended briefings organized by the Danish government with a view to gaining insight into the successful experience of Denmark in the field of renewable energy and to explore the possibility of cooperation in this area.

The delegation also attended a seminar held at the Asia House which focused on the investment opportunities in Pakistan particularly in the energy sector. This seminar was also attended by the representatives of the leading Danish Industries in energy. At the conclusion of the visit, the Ambassador of Pakistan hosted a dinner in the honour of the delegation and their Danish sponsors.

Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo visits Aarhus

 

Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo visited Århus on 11 October 2014 to attend an Eid Milan and the Independence Day celebrations organized by the Pakistani Cultural Centre.

The Ambassador congratulated the Centre for organizing this event which was attended by a large number of Pakistani Diaspora in Jutland. He thanked the organizers for providing him an opportunity to interact with them.

In his speech, Mr. Junejo paid rich tributes to the overseas Pakistanis who were making invaluable contribution to the progress of Pakistan as well as Denmark. The Ambassador briefed the participants about the efforts that the Embassy of Pakistan at Copenhagen was making to strengthen Pakistan's relations with Denmark and also to improve the quality of consular services for the benefit of the members of the Pakistani community.

Ambassador Junejo attends 2014 Annual Social Democratic Party Congress

Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo visited Aalborg on 19-21 September 2014 where he attended the 2014 Annual Social Democratic Party Congress. He also attended briefings given by the Danish Ministers of Defence, Finance, Trade & Development and Environment for the international guests and diplomats.

He also attended a reception during which the Prime Minister, Ms. Helle Thorning-Schmidt briefed the participants on the priorities and the achievements of her government. The event provided an opportunity to the Ambassador to meet and mingle with party delegates and exchange with them views on matters of mutual interest.

Ambassador Masroor Junejo Holds Meeting to Discuss Flood Relief Activities

Ambassador Masroor Ahmad Junjo held a meeting of prominent members of Pakistani and Pakistan-Origin Community at the Embassy of Pakistan, Copenhagen. The meeting discussed the ways to raise funds for the relief activities undertaken by the Federal and Provincial Governments. Embassy of Pakistan, Copenhagen Opens Account for Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund (2014)

The Embassy of Pakistan, Copenhagen has opened a bank account for providing relief assistance to the people of Pakistan who have been affected and displaced from their homes due to the severe flash floods. All persons, who desire to send their donations, may deposit them in the said account. The details of the bank account are given above. National Disaster Management Authority of Pakistan has recommended monetary donation and has advised that donations in kind (clothing, food, tents, blankets etc) are not recommended as their transportation and storing creates further logistical challenges, extra expenses and diverts it energies from helping the flood affected people. (12 September 2014)

Embassy of Pakistan, Copenhagen and Urdu Forum Denmark hold a Poetry Recital (Mushaira)

The Embassy of Pakistan, Copenhagen and the Urdu Forum Denmark held a poetry recital (Mushaira) to celebrate the 68th Independence Day of Pakistan at the Embassy's premises. The renowned Urdu poets of Denmark recited their poems at this occasion. A number of prominent personalities related to the Urdu literature and journalism also attended the event.  The poets highlighted the sacrifices of our forefathers for achieving independence and prayed for the prosperity of the nation and its people. Ambassador Masroor Junejo thanked the participants and highlighted the importance of engaging the Pakistani Community for projection of Pakistan's culture and civilization and public diplomacy efforts.

Embassy of Pakistan, Copenhagen celebrates Independence Day

The 68th Independence Day of Pakistan was observed with great zeal and enthusiasm in Denmark today. The main event of the celebrations was the flag hoisting ceremony held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Copenhagen. The ceremony was attended by a large number of members of the Pakistani community representing various walks of life. This included professionals, academicians, mediamen, politicians, poets and students. Mr. Nadeem Farooq, Member of the Danish Folketing (Parliament) also attended the ceremony.

                      The flag hoisting was performed by Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo with the accompaniment of the national anthem. Students of the Iqbal International School and the Jinnah International School rendered Milli songs. Ambassador Junejo in his remarks paid rich tributes to the forefathers of Pakistan and briefed the community regarding steps that the government was taking to address the challenges being faced by the country. He also paid rich tributes to the members of the Armed forces and the personnel of law enforcement agencies who have been offering great sacrifices for security and territorial integrity of Pakistan. The Ambassador also participated in a cake cutting ceremony during which he interacted with the students of the two schools and highlighted the significance of the Independence Day.

                      The ceremony ended with distribution of certificates to the children of two Schools who had participated in the event and prayers for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan. Special prayers were also offered for the success of operation Zarb-e-Azab.

Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo visit Lithuania

Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo, who is also concurrently accredited to the Republic of Lithuania, paid an official visit to Vilnius from 10-14 June 2014. During his visit, the Ambassador paid courtesy calls on the Foreign Minister, Mr. Linas Linkevicius and Minister for Education and Science, Mr. Dainius Pavalkis and discussed with them matters of mutual interest.

Ambassador Junejo had a detailed meeting with Mr. Rimantas Sidlauskas, Director General of the Association of Lithuanian Chambers of Commerce, Industry & Crafts and discussed with him the possibilities of further enhancing trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Lithuania. Mr. Junejo also joined Heads of Missions accredited to Lithuania who were taken on a trip to Rokiskis District in the North East of Lithuania. The visit was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. He also held a detailed meeting with members of the Pakistani community in Lithuania and listened to their problems.

First-ever Machine Readable Passports Issued from the Embassy of Pakistan, Copenhagen.

It is with great pleasure that the first-ever Machine Readable Passports processed in Copenhagen were delivered to the applicants, on 06 June 2014. Previously, the applicants in Denmark had to travel to other places in order to have their MRPs processed. The Machine Readable Passport & Visa Unit was inaugurated in the Embassy on 30th May 2014. The applicants were delivered their MRPs by Mr. Modasar Chaudhry, Head of Chancery. The Embassy of Pakistan in Copenhagen takes pride in being able to facilitate the Pakistani Community in Denmark.

Ambassador Masroor Junejo Calls on the Minister for Trade & Development.


Ambassador Masroor A Junjo paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Trade & Development Mr. Mogens Jensen, in his office on 06 June 2014. The Ambassador thanked the Minister for his support to development cooperation between the two nations. The Ambassador apprised the Minister of the latest strategy adopted by the Government of Pakistan to boost foreign investment and energy production and its foreign policy initiatives. Inauguration of Machine Readable Passport (MRP) and Machine Readable Visa (MRV) Facility at Embassy of Pakistan, Copenhagen

Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo inaugurated the facility of Machine Readable Passport and Machine Readable Visa at the Embassy of Pakistan, Copenhagen on 30th May 2014. It will be the first ever Machine Readable Visa issuing office outside Pakistan. A large number of the community members attended this ceremony.

Talking to the audience, Ambassador Junejo informed the community members of the recent steps taken by the Embassy which have brought about improvements in the delivery of consular services.  Ambassador Junejo said that overseas Pakistanis and Pakistani Origin community was an asset for the country and the Government attaches utmost priority to resolving their issues and grievances. He added that Pakistani community members play a vital role in promotion of Pakistan’s economic and commercial interests and its cultural projection. With the installation of MRP facility in Copenhagen, the Pakistani community in Denmark will not have to go abroad to other nearby MRP facility centres.

Ambassador Junejo visits Odense

Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo visited Odense from 25-27 May, 2014. The visit was a part of his desire to interact closely with the members of the Pakistan Diaspora. During his stay in this third largest city of Denmark, the Ambassador conducted a surgery on 26th May, during which he briefed the members of the Pakistani community on the measures taken by the Embassy of Pakistan in Copenhagen to address their problems and the improvement that have taken place in the service delivery at the Embassy. He told the participants that the government of Pakistan was attaching high priority to the welfare of overseas Pakistanis. The Ambassador also participated in an interactive question and answer session.

Earlier, officials of the Embassy provided consular services to the members of the Pakistani Community in Funen region. This included issuance of visas as well as attestations of documents.

Ambassador Junejo also held a meeting with Mr. Steen Moller, Councilor and Deputy Mayor of Odense at the Odense Municipality. Mr. Moller briefed the Ambassador about the initiatives taken by the Odense Municipality to facilitate ethnic minorities in Funen. The Deputy Mayor also hosted a lunch in honour of the Ambassador.

Mr. Junejo also held a meeting with Mr. Jens Hempel-Hansen, Chief Executive Officer of H.J. Hansen Recycling Industry A/S and Mr. Torben Frahm, Head of Products and Markets at the  Chamber of Commerce, Odense. During the dissections, Ambassador briefed them on the incentives being offered by the Government of Pakistan to encourage foreign investment in Pakistan.

On the last leg of his visit, Ambassador Junejo visited South Denmark University where he attended a ceremony in which Mrs. Sarwat Nizamani, a Pakistan PhD scholar defended her PhD thesis. Following the ceremony, Ambassador congratulated Mrs.Nizamani on her success and wished her will in her future endeavours.

Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo attended book launching ceremony of two books "Shahrah-e-Janat" and "Armughan-e-Shafaq" by Mr. Shafaq Siddiqui at Valby Kultural House, Valby on 18 May 2014. Mr. Siddiqui is a noted writer and poet of Copenhagen and has over 20 books to his credit. He is also founder of the Anjuman Farogh-e-Urdu, Denmark.

Paying rich tribute to the author, the Ambassador highlighted his contribution to the promotion of Urdu in Denmark. He also appreciated the role of "Anjuman Farogh-e-Urdu" in that direction.

Visit of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency delegation to Denmark

 

A two-member delegation of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency led by Rear Admiral Ather Mukhtar, Director General of the Agency visited Denmark from 11-16 May 2014 on invitation from the Defence Command Denmark and the Royal Danish Navy. The objective of the visit was to explore possibilities of enhancing cooperation in various fields relating to maritime security with Denmark for capacity building of Pakistan Maritime Security Agency. During the visit, the delegation also called on Rear Admiral Frank Trojahn, Admiral Danish Fleet.

Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo meets the CEO of Novo Nordisk on 14 May 2014

 

The Ambassador of Pakistan to Denmark, Masroor A. Junejo visited the Head Office of Novo Nordisk, a global healthcare company. He was received by Lars Rabien Sørensen, President and CEO of the company. Mr. Junejo discussed matters of mutual interest with Mr. Sørensen and thanked him for the participation of Novo Nordisk in a seminar held on 10 April 2014 about investment opportunities in Pakistan. The CEO of Novo Nordisk briefed the Ambassador about his recent visit to Pakistan and his meetings with Ministers and officials in Islamabad. He also told the Ambassador that Novo Nordisk was investing in several training and education programmes to improve diabetes awareness in Pakistan.

Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo meets the Officials of DANIDA and IFU

The Ambassador of Pakistan to Denmark, Masroor A. Junejo visited the Royal Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen on 12 May 2014 and held a meeting with Ambassador Morten Jespersen, Under-Secretary for Global Development Cooperation. During his discussion with Mr. Jespersen, the development assistance by Denmark to Pakistan came under discussion. The Ambassador was also briefed about various Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) instruments which DANIDA extends to promote and support partnerships with developing countries. He was told that DANIDA was supporting a visit by a Danish delegation to Pakistan in the near future.

Mr. Junejo also visited the office of the Investment Fund for Developing Countries (IFU) on 13 May 2014 where he was received by Mr. Torben Huss, Executive Vice President and Mr. Morten Christiansen, Senior Vice President, Investment Management. During the meeting, ways and means to promote economic cooperation between Pakistan and Denmark were discussed. Mr. Junejo was informed about the long association of IFU with Pakistan. He was told that IFU had invested in 13 projects in Pakistan. These included projects in the cement, textiles, food & beverages and fertilizer industries.

Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo called on Mr. IB Byrge Sørensen, Permanent Secretary Food, Agriculture and Fisheries of Denmark in his office today. During the meeting matters of mutual interest came under discussion. Ambassador Junejo briefed the Permanent Secretary about the potential of bilateral cooperation in the food, agriculture and fisheries sectors of the two countries. He informed  Mr. Sørensen that the Government of Pakistan would welcome investment in these areas in the country.

Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo calls on the Foreign Minister of Denmark

The Ambassador of Pakistan to Denmark, Masroor A. Junejo called on Martin Lidegaard, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark on 28 April 2014. Welcoming the Ambassador, the Minister stated that the relations between Pakistan and Denmark were stronger than ever. He particularly referred to the potential of economic cooperation between the two countries. Mr. Lidegaard identified the possibilities of cooperation in the field of energy.

The Ambassador of Pakistan thanked the Minister for receiving him and expressed the hope that the relations between Pakistan and Denmark will continue to grow further in the years ahead. He informed the Minister that during his stay in Denmark, he would focus on further cementing trade and economic ties between the two countries. The Ambassador also expressed satisfaction at the level of cooperation between the Embassy of Pakistan in Copenhagen and the Danish Mission in Islamabad in that direction. He also pointed out the opportunities that Pakistan had to offer for investment and mentioned the strategic location of Pakistan and the size of its domestic market. The Ambassador informed the Minister about the success of a business seminar that was organized by the Pakistan-Danish Business Council with the cooperation of the Danish Chamber of Commerce and the Embassy of Pakistan early this month.

Mr. Junejo also briefed the Minister on the political situation in the region and particularly the developments in neighbouring Afghanistan.

National Defence University, Islamabad delegation visits Denmark

 

A 17-member group of the participants of the National Security and War Course 2013-14 of the National Defence University, Islamabad, is currently visiting Denmark as part of its foreign study tour. The group led by Air Commodore Zia ul Haque Shamsi, consists of Military and Civil officers of Pakistan as well as China and Nepal . The Ambassador of Pakistan, Masroor Ahmed Junejo hosted a dinner in the honour of the group on 27 April 2014 at the Embassy residence. The dinner was also attended by senior Defence officials of Denmark.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador Junejo expressed satisfaction over the cordial relations between Pakistan and Denmark and thanked the Ministry of Defence of Denmark for facilitating the visit. He informed the participants that with the passage of time, the relations between Pakistan and Denmark were gaining strength in various walks of life including trade, economy and Defence.

            A business seminar was held in Copenhagen in the historic old Stock Exchange Building on 10 April 2014. The seminar was organized by the Danish Pakistan Business Council with the cooperation of Danish Chamber of Commerce and the Embassy of Pakistan at Copenhagen. The seminar was attended by a large number of representatives of the Danish companies. It was addressed by .Imran Afzal Cheema, Secretary, Board of Investment, Christian Friis Bach, Member Parliament and former Minister for Development Cooperation, Jesper Møller Sørensen, Ambassador of Denmark in Pakistan, and Masroor A. Junejo, Ambassador of Pakistan in Denmark.
           
         The representatives of the famous Danish companies such as A.P. Møller/Maersk, Novo Nordisk, and Ciklum, which have rich experience of doing business in Pakistan also gave presentations and highlighted their success in doing business with their Pakistani partners.

         Member of Parliament and former Minister for Development Cooperation, Christian Friis Bach, in his speech said that Pakistan was a friendly, open, hospitable and democratic country where media and civil society was free and vibrant. He commended the human rights organizations working to make Pakistan a better society. Referring to his meetings with the leadership in Pakistan, Christian Friis Bach said that Denmark was keen to cooperating with Pakistan in fields of energy cooperation, promotion of joint ventures and social development.

         In his presentation, Secretary, Board of Investment highlighted the incentives which the government of Pakistan was offering to the foreign investors in Pakistan. He particularly referred to the conducive enabling environment as well as investor-friendly policies of the government. He also highlighted the opportunities of investing in priority areas such as energy, building infrastructure, food and dairy products as well as manufacturing.

         The Ambassador of Denmark in Pakistan, Jesper Møller Sørensen gave an overview of the economy and the business environment in Pakistan. He said that it was the right moment to invest in Pakistan. He cited the young and large middle class in Pakistan and the recent gains made by the Stock Exchange in Pakistan, which showed the increased confidence in the foreign investors.  

         Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo informed the participants that the enhancement of trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Denmark would receive his priority and that he would continue to work in that direction with the support of Danish Pakistan Business Council and other trade bodies. He also briefed the participants on the achievements of the present Government in the field of economy and referred to the foreign investment that has grown in the previous months.

  Pakistan Day Celebrations in Denmark

                 Pakistan day was observed with great zeal and enthusiasm in Denmark today. The main event of the celebrations was the flag hoisting ceremony held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Copenhagen. The ceremony was attended by a very large number of members of the Pakistani community representing various walks of life. This included professionals, academicians, mediamen, politicians, poets and students. Mr. Nadeem Farooq, Member of the Danish Folketing (Parliament) also attended the ceremony.

           The flag hoisting was performed by Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo with the accompaniment of the national anthem. Students of the Jinnah International School rendered Milli songs. Noted urdu poet Mr. Iqbal Akthar presented his poem relating to the occasion. Ambassador Masroor A Junejo read the message from President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to the audience. Ambassador Junejo in his remarks paid rich tributes to the forefathers of Pakistan and briefed the community regarding steps that the government was taking to address the challenges being faced by the country. He also informed them of the measures taken by the Embassy to solve their problems.

          The ceremony ended with distribution of certificates to the children of Jinnah International School who had participated in the event and prayers for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

He was received by Mr. Ghulam Rasool, Chairman Board of Members and Mrs. Anette Spang Frandssen, Principal of the school. Welcoming the Ambassador, Mr. Ghulam Rasool informed him about the history of the school and the progress that it has made since its establishment.

                      Mr. Junejo attended the assembly of the school and mingled with students and members of the faculty. He exchanged views on matters of mutual interest with the Chairman and the Principal of the school and presented to them a set of books on Pakistan for the library of the school.

Ambassador Masroor A Junejo met Mr. Kestutis Treciokas, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy at Vilnius on 26 February 2014. Both sides reviewed the bilateral relations and agreed that the bilateral trade has the potential to further increase. The Ambassador briefed the Vice Minister about the steps taken by the Government to promote and protect the foreign investment and the measures adopted to facilitate the business community. 2014 marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Republic of Lithuania. Bilateral trade in 2013 has seen a 33 percent increased as compared to the last years trade figures..

"Ambassador Masroor A Junejo Presents Credentials to the President of Republic of Lithuania"

Ambassador Masroor A Junejo presented his letter of credence to the President of Republic of Lithuania, HE Dalia Grybauskaitė at the Presidential Palace on 25 February 2014. After the ceremony, the Ambassador held a tete-a-tete with the President; the President welcomed the Ambassador to Vilnius and expressed satisfaction over the cordial relations between the two countries. The Ambassador conveyed the good wishes of the leadership of Pakistan to the President and her Country. The Ambassador briefed the President regarding the recent steps taken by the Government of Pakistan to promote investment in Pakistan especially in power and infrastructure, and peace and security in the country. The Ambassador also briefed the President about the foreign policy initiative of the Democratic Government. Both sides discussed the avenues where bilateral cooperation can be increased especially in the field of science & technology. President Dalia Grybauskaitė said that Pakistani students desirous of benefitting from the Lithuania's expertise will be welcomed.

 Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo meets with Pakistani Community in Denmark

Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo met the prominent members of the Pakistani community based in Denmark on Saturday, 22 February 2014 in a local Restaurant. The Pakistan Community Forum was the main host and a large number of Pakistani community members attended the event. Speaking on behalf of the Forum, Raja Ghafoor Afzal welcomed Ambassador Masroor Junejo to Denmark and extended his and his colleagues' full cooperation to him in fulfillment of his mission. Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo thanked the Pakistan Community Forum and other participants for arranging the event and briefed the audience regarding steps taken by the Embassy to alleviate the problems of Pakistani community. The Ambassador also presented an outline of his plan of action for the next few years, regarding Pakistan's bilateral relations with Kingdom of Denmark and Republic of Lithuania and the facilities for the Pakistani community.

Mr. Masroor A. Junejo, Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to Denmark presented his credentials to Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II in a ceremony at the Christiansborg Palace, Copenhagen on 14 February 2014.

During ceremony, the Ambassador conveyed the greetings of the President and the Prime Minister to her Majesty. The Queen warmly reciprocated these sentiments and asked the Ambassador to convey her greetings to the President and the Prime Minister as well.

The new Ambassador briefed the Queen on the recent developments in Pakistan and informed her about the priority that Pakistan was attaching to the promotion of bilateral relations with Denmark. Mr. Junejo also thanked the Queen for the development assistance that Denmark has pledged to Pakistan.
